Hello. In my view learning English is a difficult process. Listening and pronunciation are very complicated for me. But I try to cope with them. For example I try to communicate more. Mostly I do it on the blog. Also sometimes I read some information in English. For example books, various news and articles. But my main problem is the tension. I can’t be calm when I tell my project because I need to remember all of the text. To deal with this problem I try to learn my report more carefully. That all.
I have been learning english for ten years. Firstly, when I was six I had visited extra lessons. As far as I remember my first word in english was: a cock. Also a huge role on my way to a perfect english played diffrent trips and journeys to foreign countries like Germany, Bulgaria, Spain. There I spoke only english although I was eight or nine. Futhermore I wasn't afraid of making mistakes and I wasn't afraid of other people and children so that now I'm good at speeking. As for me the hardest thing in learning foreign languages at all is listening because it's very hard to make out fast-going words and sentences, accents and dialects.
Studying a foreign language is not a bed of roses. It's not only learning the rules. If you want to communicate in English, you should improve your speaking, reading and listening skills. Nowadays, the large part of films are American or English, so I try to watch my favourite shows in the original or with English subscripts. It was very difficult at first, but now I can kill two birds with one stone: watch my favorite movie and practice English. After watching anything in English for a long time I always realise that it's getting difficult to speak in Russian and I even start thinking in English. (The Another point is that my parents never say that I am wasting my time doing nothing.) Speaking is not a child's play (especially for me - not a good Russian speaker). There is an interesting tip I use to improve my speaking skills: speak slowly. Speaking English slowly has two advantages: it gives you more time to think of what to say, it makes your speech easier to understand. I am also reading Harry Potter in English now. It's much easier to read a book in the original after reading it in Russian many times.
I think Kate you are making progress in English due to your hard work and high motivation. As for speaking slowly, it might have some disadvantages because your mistakes are more obvious than when you speak fast. But if it helps you, why not?
Nowadays foreign languages are very important in everyday life. And of course we have to know English – one of the very significant language. It is an international language. To learn English better we must practice day by day. Learning languages is not a piece of cake. I mean that you should study a grammar, spelling of the words, their meanings, you should read a lot in English, study phrasal verbs and talk, talk and talk. Whenever you have a chance. So you mustn’t be afraid of making mistakes. And pretty soon you will see the difference. I like traveling. But it is difficult to visit countries, when you don’t know the language. My personal experience showed me that whenever you go abroad you can speak English and people will understand you.
You say 'talk, talk and talk'. Where can you speak Engliah apart from your lessons? I mean during the school year, not in your holidays while travelling.
When I study the rules or vocabulary words, it semms not difficult. But sometimes I am afraid to talk with other people. My main matter is doing the wish not to make mistakes. Also I can be a very shy person to speak English. But now I am doing some things which help me to improve my English. For example, I have watched Euronews and songs in English. Besides I have often practiced when I have been surfing the Internet... although the best practice is communicating.
In my view English isn’t dead easy. As for me vocabulary is very important in learning English. If you know a lot of English words it means that this language is child’s play for you. My favorite part of English is reading, because when you read you find out new words that you don’t know. And then you can look them up in the dictionary and your vocabulary will be bigger. Moreover, I like my English lessons and never miss them, so, learning English is a piece of cake for me. I ever disappointed with my marks and it makes learning this subject more pleasant. I think that the most important thing is to know what you want to achieve
